This is a bit of a catch all section with a rather eclectic mix of offers, obviously the north Yorkshire steam railway is one of the most important attractions locally a fantastic day out and a great way to see the countryside. All the attractions are within day trip distance of any of our cottages.
North Yorkshire Moors National Park
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is the most popular heritage railway in Britain. Steam locomotives take visitors through 18 miles of stunning countryside in one of the most beautiful national parks in the country, the North York Moors National Park. There is a range of special events associated with the railway and there is a dinner train for a special night out.

Eden Camp, Malton
A visit to this unique museum will transport you back in time to wartime Britain. Experience the sights, the sounds and even the smells of those dangerous years. Relive the civilian way of life during World War Two. New for the Millennium Hut 13 covering from 1945 to the present day. Allow 4 hours plus for a visit.

Jorvic Centre, York
Travel BACK 1000 years on board your time machine through the backyards and houses to the bustling streets of Jorvik. Everything here is based on facts – from the layout of the houses, the working craftsmen, the language of the gossiping neighbours, to the smells of cooking and the cesspit! As you travel through the busy market place, you will experience a blast of smoke as you pass the blacksmith’s furnace, smell the fish on the riverside and visit the hearth scene inside the Viking home. Dracula Experience, Whitby
Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' is brought to life in this walk-through attraction. A series of 10 scenes using sounds and new electronic special effects, eerie life-size models and live actors. A cape weighing 56 kilos and worn by Christopher Lee in his 2nd 'Dracula' film is on show. An educational and historical tour, ideal for school parties.
James Herriot, Thirsk
Situated in the actual 'Skeldale House' at No 23 Kirkgate, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, Hambleton District Council's millennium project explores veterinary science and takes visitors on a journey back to the 1940's. It is a unique tribute to Alf Wight, famous author of the James Herriot novels and is the only centre of its kind in the UK dedicated to Veterinary science.
